I was wondering if anyone soaks dry beans overnight like it says to do on the package? Supposedly soaking them causes some of the gas to come out of them, but I just throw them in the soap after rinsing then and have never bothered to soak them. Does it really make any difference?

I always soak my beans overnight in plenty of water. Then, the next day I rinse them as the water is cloudy. Then, I like to cook mine in the crockpot all day long. For our family, this is the only way to go!

Sometimes, I added smoked ham to the beans when adding them to the crockpot to cook.
