Having A Hard Time In My Garden

I recently started gardening a couple years ago and I'm having a hard time. I've been trying to plant corn, onions, potatoes, and strawberries. For some reason my potatoes and onions are growing really small. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. They get plenty of sunlight and I water them daily. If anyone has any tips that they can give me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I'd suggest nutrient rich soil. I had the same problem but also that a lot of things refused to grow in my yard. Someone said I had suicide soil and the plants were killing themselves to escape. So, I did what I could. Tossed up the soil I did have and incorporated some I purchased at a gardening store. Worked out great.

We have a mushroom plant nearby that makes some really good compost which is added each year to a friend of mine's garden. It is amazing to see how much his plants take off each year.
