Its morel mushroom season in many parts of the country already. My area doesn't start until May. Any body hunt morels or have any good recipes for cooking them? I just coat them with egg and a little cracker crumbs and fry them in margarine.

How are morel mushrooms different from other mushrooms? I have not heard of this particular variety. I would love to hear more about your experience!

Morels only come out for about a month in the Spring. They are a delicacy that people really love. Sometimes they are called sponge mushrooms because of their resemblance to a sponge. You slice them in half and cook them as I mentioned on the other post or you can add them to roasts, omelets, or anything else that you want. At local morel auctions they go for around $120.00 a pound.
