Browning Hamburger in Crockpot

Has anyone ever tried to brown hamburger in their crockpot? Its supposed to take about 3 hours for 5 pounds to brown. Seems like a time saver if you are away from home and less messy than browning in a pan but you have to be there to occasionally stir it on the downside.
 
I have not personally tried this. I will be curious to hear from others on this one. I cook up alot of hamburger to freeze for quick meals. I may have to give this one a try next time to see how it works.

Great idea about the hamburger, I would have to use ground turkey. I wonder if it would take as long as ground beef?
