Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 pound(s) trimmed, boneless beef chuck or sirloin, cut into 1 1/4-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1 bottle(s) (12-ounce) dark, malty beer, preferably chocolate stout or porter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 jalapeño chiles, chopped (remove seeds, if desired)
  • 1/4 cup(s) hot Mexican or regular chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon(s) chopped garlic
  • 2 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 Haas avocado, pitted and diced
  • 1/2 cup(s) diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup(s) sour cream
  • Cilantro sprigs
Directions
  1. In 5 qt. or larger slow cooker, toss beef with flour to coat; stir in beer, onion, jalapeños, chili powder, garlic, cumin, oregano, and salt.
  2. Cover and cook on high 4 1/2 hours or low 7 to 7 1/2 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
