    How much do you workout?

You can find them on fitdesk.net or get them used on Amazon or eBay. It depends, my roommate got it for a steal ($75). You can also get pedals that fit under your existing desk.

How to make compost - Making your own compost

I was looking into creating an actual bin. I found pretty quickly that is is actually simple, and not too expensive to build your own. I'm sure it would be easier to buy one, but I always find it exciting to create something functional on my own. Here are the instructions I found...

    Easy Potato Leek Soup

I make this a lot in the fall and winter months. It is one of my favorite dishes, especially when I make fresh bread to go with it. 2 large leeks, washed, ends trimmed, thinly sliced 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and quartered 3 carrots, chopped 2 celery stalks, chopped 2 cloves garlic...

    Weightloss

The hardest thing for me for getting back into shape, is creating a daily routine that I won't fall out of a few weeks in the future. I used to eat really terribly. Now I have a go-to shopping list. I made a shopping list that I use every time I go shopping, only making small edits, if I want...

Are you getting enough calcium in your diet?

This list makes me feel a lot better about my calcium intake. Many of them I eat almost every day, like spinach and kale. Yum! Thank you for this great list. I'm going to give myself a challenge to make a crock pot meal with items from this list! I'll post my results to the recipe thread later.

So Many CrockPots, So Much To Make!

They really are! Though, after making a double batch and eating them in less than two days, I need to take a break from making desserts. Or I need to invite more people over to share my treats with!

    Greetings!

I have never even thought to make yogurt! I love fruit-on-the bottom, but always am a bit disappointed by the fruit. I'm going to try this and add my own fresh fruit! Thanks a lot, and nice to meet you!

    Another Newbie

Welcome! I too often cook in small batches (for two). When I make something special, however, I love to make extra to freeze for a lazy day. I look forward to sharing recipes and stories with you!

    The Food Guide Pyramid

That food pyramid was actually replaced a few years ago by a "square pyramid." That one was recently replaced by a new pyramid found here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/nation/daily/graphics/diet_042005.html This pyramid gives the daily amount a person should consume of each food group...

My dr. wants me to eat more sugar to expand my stomach

I am often a picky eater, but anything I put into a smoothie I love. I knew a woman who had gastric bypass, but had the issue where once she was at her goal weight, she couldn't stop losing weight because she was almost never hungry. She solved this by eating more small balanced snacks...

Are you getting enough calcium in your diet?

I have a huge problem with this! I am slightly lactose intolerant. Some types of cheeses bother me, but any milk makes me feel sick the rest of the day. I take supplements, but I doubt they can replace calcium from a natural source. What other ways can I get more calcium?

    How much do you workout?

I am a dancer, so exercise is a part of my daily routine. Everyday, I do different stretching exercises before breakfast. I own a device called a fit desk. I love this thing! It is a stand-still bike that has a desk on it. I can pedal away and also work. After lunch, I will do sit-ups, crunches...

Are food supplements as good as raw food?

Getting nutrition from foods you eat is the most important thing. Some supplements sold in stores, are not able to be fully absorbed in the stomach and intestines. This is especially true with many multi-vitamins. When you take them, you can be getting less than half of the nutrients on the label!

How to Plant Vegetable Container Gardens

Container gardens are great for small yards, or ones that have a lot of shade throughout the day. I like to put my container gardens on carts. This allows me to be able to easily move my plants into the sun, or shade. This is also great for beginning gardeners who are not sure which plants will...

How to make compost - Making your own compost

This seems cooler than just composting on the ground! I may be changing my mind about my composting plan! Though, I do feel like churning that will be quite a task.

Coffee Grounds: How And Why We Use Them In Our Garden

I have been living in an apartment for a while, so I have not been able to compost. I am about to move into a house with a nice big yard, and I'm so excited to start composting again. Though I would like to have a compost bin, I hear that ground composting is better and faster. This is because...

Has anyone started off a recipe with frozen meat?

I find that cooking meat from frozen has more effect on how tender it is than flavor. When you cook frozen meat, the center has a hard time getting to the desired temperature. The outside reaches your goal temperature before the center, and will overcook or become tough. Thawing your meat...
