What are the benefits of programmable crockpots?

Crockpots have come a long way over the years. Now days, you can buy a programmable crockpot with all the benefits. So, what are some of the benefits of using a programmable crockpot?

• Program cooking from 30 minutes to 20 hours
• When cooktime is done, the crockpot will switch to warm automatically
• Some models will even let you know how many minutes the crockpot has been on the warm setting

Do you own a programmable crockpot? How do you like it? What other benefits do you see with using one?

I think that the fact that you don't have to worry that the crockpot will overheat from being on too long is the best benefit they provide. I do wonder though if they have a battery backup in case the power goes out. I did not think I would need a programmable crockpot but the more I hear about them it may be a good idea to get one after all.

I have not tried a programmable crock pot yet. I am seriously thinking about it, though.
