This one has a little more prep work than most crockers like, but it's worth it!!

"Swiss Steak" in the Crock Pot - comfort food recipe

Serves about 4

  • 1-2 lbs. cube steak
  • 2 green bell peppers
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cans Italian style diced tomato in juices
  • 1 cup flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  1. Cut steaks in half
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil until sizzling
  3. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients
  4. Dredge steaks in egg and flour mix
  5. Sear steaks in olive oil until golden brown, remove
  6. Place steaks in crock pot between layers of sliced bell peppers, sliced onion and tomatoes
  7. Cook, covered on high for 4 hours or on low for 2-3 hours until steaks are fork tender
  8. Serve over homemade mashed potatoes

Okay this gold! I'm so using this. Thanks for posting this. I have always wanted to do some steaks in a crock pot. This is just perfect!

This sounds really good and I don't mind a little more prep when using the crockpot because when its done, dinner is done without any fuss. I am going to try this next week after my shopping trip. Thanks.

Sounds delicious and perfect. Im gonna go to the store to get the ingredients and will post here later when I cook it up. My family is gonna get stuffed with food today :D
