I do the same thing as those posted above. I cook my meat on the stove. Then I put it in my crockpot. Instead of rice (which I have done before too), I add hashbrowns. They are the square hashbrowns. I think they are called home styled. That helps spread the meat out and fills bellies...

I like Chinese food, but I cannot eat a lot of it. Most of it is made with MSG, and I cannot have that. As a matter of fact, I cannot eat at any buffets or salad bars because of this very reason. There is only one Chinese place in town that doesn't use MSG in their foods so I don't get it...

How hard is it to make egg drop soup? I like that kind of soup. Well, when it really yellow, I don't like it. I like it on the clearer side. And you make it in the crockpot? Have a recipe you could share?

Make sure you get rye bread too. That is the best bread for a Reuben sandwich. I think the darker rye bread is the best!

Could you add a dash of cumin too? My sister in law uses cumin a lot.

They do make the plastic bags for turkeys. They are the oven roasting bags. Would they work or do they emit dangerous chemicals? I would hope not, but you never know these days.

It is nice to meet you. Now I know why you said you wanted the 7 quart crockpot! Having 6 boys to feed is a lot, a lot of food! Some days, I have a hard enough time feeding my 1 teenage son! They can be a bottomless pit. I am sure you understand!

Did you mean one bay leaf? I am not sure what an ay leaf is. I am assuming it was a typo and supposed to read bay leaf. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for the tips.

Does anybody have any great, simple recipes for soup? I was thinking about maybe a tomato soup or chicken noodle. I would love to hear any. This is the perfect weather for soup, don't you think?
